Jewish Poets of the Past

May 23, 2018, Wednesday
7:00-8:30 P.M.

Join us for an evening of poetry written by Yehuda Amichai (1924-2000) and Hannah Senesh (1921-1944), two of Israel’s most celebrated poets, to be recited in English and in Hebrew. Amichai, internationally acclaimed, prize-winning poet, wrote with gentle irony and original imagery. Hannah Senesh, the Hungarian-born poet who was tortured and killed by a firing squad after attempting to rescue Hungarian Jews during the Holocaust, is one of Israel’s most revered heroines. In addition, we will hear songs performed by Elisheva Edelson.

Free event, but donations welcome. Refreshments will be served.
